Jewellery Care
Heili Palm Jewellery pieces are detailed and delicate, yet created to last a lifetime. To ensure that your jewellery retains its beauty and brilliance over the years, it is important to follow a few simple care recommendations.
Lotions and Cosmetics
I always recommend applying skincare and haircare products, cosmetics, and perfume before putting on your jewellery. It is important to avoid contact with products that have not yet fully absorbed into the skin or hair.
Skincare and hair products can react with metals, causing jewellery to tarnish or corrode over time.
Water
I am often asked whether jewellery can be worn in the shower — this is something I generally do not recommend.
Although jewellery does need to be washed occasionally for maintenance purposes, soaps and body care products used in the shower can build up on the surface of the jewellery and dull its shine. If your jewellery does get wet, it should always be thoroughly dried.
The harsh chemicals found in swimming pools and the minerals in natural waters can cause rapid oxidation, so wearing jewellery in these environments should be avoided at all costs. The beach is also not an ideal place for jewellery — abrasive sand and salty seawater can damage pieces, and there is always a risk of losing a treasured item while swimming.
Activities and Exercise
It is best to remove jewellery before engaging in any physical activity. Whether exercising, gardening, climbing, or cleaning, avoiding unnecessary stress helps prevent accidental damage.
Perspiration can also contribute to jewellery tarnishing, so it is advisable to minimise this whenever possible.
Store Jewellery Neatly and Separately
I recommend storing jewellery at home in sealable plastic bags or airtight boxes. This helps prevent exposure to air, reduces oxidation, and keeps pieces from tangling.
Storing jewellery separately prevents pendants and decorative elements from rubbing against one another, which can cause scratches. It also helps avoid chains becoming tangled.
For the same reasons, I recommend not sleeping while wearing jewellery.

Proper Storage Conditions
Avoid storing jewellery in open air or near heating sources, windowsills, or in bathrooms. Warm and humid conditions accelerate the natural oxidation process of silver and can cause jewellery to tarnish.
Igapäevane hooldus
Hõbedast ehted on loomupäraselt altid tuhmumisele, kuid selle kontrolli all hoidmiseks on mitmeid lihtsaid võimalusi.
Lisaks hoolikale hoiustamisele aitab enne ehete ära panemist nende õrn poleerimine spetsiaalse poleerimislapiga eemaldada kandmisel tekkinud jäägid ja isegi õhusaaste osakesed, mis omakorda vähendab oksüdeerumist.
Washing and Cleaning
It is best to clean jewellery as soon as you notice that it has become dirty.
Whether silver, gold-plated, or solid gold, most jewellery benefits from occasional cleaning in warm soapy water. I recommend using dishwashing liquid and a soft toothbrush to gently remove dirt, followed by thorough rinsing and drying. Once the jewellery is completely dry, store it in an airtight box or sealable bag.
Silver Cleaning Solution
If jewellery has become tarnished, a specialised silver cleaning solution may be used. However, caution is advised — these solutions contain strong chemicals that may be corrosive. Do not leave jewellery in the solution for too long, and always rinse it thoroughly under running water afterwards.
Deep Cleaning
Ultrasonic cleaners are excellent for removing built-up dirt and are especially recommended for delicate jewellery, particularly rings that are worn daily.
High-frequency sound waves in a water and cleaning solution penetrate the smallest crevices of the jewellery at a microscopic level, loosening and removing accumulated dirt.
Restoration and Repairs
With proper care and storage, jewellery made by me is long-lasting.
If a piece no longer looks its best, it may be time for restoration. I offer a silver jewellery restoration service that brings back colour and shine, returning the piece to a like-new condition.
If your Heili Palm Jewellery piece is broken or damaged, I recommend contacting me directly as a first step.
